This week we have one news item worth passing on. If you are a short story writer or know someone who is, this might be of interest. The editors are looking at June 7 as a deadline for submissions, but since the story would have been already published elsewhere in 2014 that shouldn’t be a problem.
Call for Submissions from Jean Roberta
This year, I am the guest editor of Heiresses of Russ 2015: The Year’s Best Lesbian Speculative Fiction, co-edited by publisher Steve Berman of Lethe Press in New Jersey, U.S.A. I am currently hard at work reviewing wonderful lesbian-themed tales published in 2014. But there is a chance we might not know about all the eligible stories.
If you (writer or publisher) have written or published such a tale (under 10k words) in the calendar year of 2014, please alert Steve or myself. (Steve can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.) Speculative fiction encompasses not only fantasy and science fiction but also horror stories, weird tales, and anything visionary or truly experimental and strange. We only accept prose; please, no poetry. We ask for one-time reprint rights, in print and ebook, and pay can range from $25 to $100.
