At the beginning of this month something good happened in Toronto; the first LGBTQ shelter opened. It’s much-needed, and it’s long-overdue.
Although I’m sure that we are all concerned about the welfare of LGBTQ youth, especially those needing assistance, many of us feel unable to be of direct help. There is, however, something that we can do.
Glad Day Bookshop in Toronto is building an LGBTQ library in the shelter with help from the community. I visited the store on Wednesday, and the pile of donations is impressive. Nevertheless, more are needed. If you are in Toronto, you can drop off your books at the store on Yonge Street. Anyone unable to do so can still donate through the purchase of new books online from the store.
Let’s help these kids.
